Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 27, 2026

ClueGrid (“we”, “our”, or “the site”) operates the website at cluegrid.org. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use ClueGrid and how we handle it.

ClueGrid is a free puzzle maker for word searches and crosswords. You do not need to sign up or create an account to use it. We try to collect as little personal information as possible.

Information We Collect

Information you provide. When you create a puzzle, you enter words, clues, or themes. We store this content so the puzzle can be shared by link and re-opened later. Do not submit personal information, copyrighted material, or content that identifies a third party.

Automatic information. Like most websites, our servers automatically receive standard log data including IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamps. This is used to operate the service, prevent abuse, and measure traffic.

Cookies and local storage. We use cookies and local storage to remember language preference, recent puzzles you created, and to keep the service running smoothly. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics services (such as Google Analytics or similar) to understand how many people visit ClueGrid and which puzzles are popular. These services may set their own cookies. We do not sell this data and we do not use it to identify individual users.

Advertising

ClueGrid may display third-party advertisements, including advertising delivered by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this site or other sites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies at aboutads.info/choices.

Children’s Privacy

ClueGrid is suitable for use by children in classroom and family settings, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The puzzles themselves do not require any login or personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your Choices

You can use ClueGrid without providing any personal information. You can clear cookies and local storage through your browser. If you live in the EEA, UK, California, or another region with data protection laws, you have the right to request information about your data, request deletion, or object to processing. Contact us using the email below.

Data Retention

Puzzle content you submit is stored so the share link continues to work. We may remove puzzles that are unused for a long period, or that violate our Terms.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of ClueGrid after a change means you accept the updated policy.
